Kenneth P. Ross concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation, including appellate litigation, labor and employment, and business counseling.
Complex Commercial Litigation Mr. Ross litigates a wide variety of claims such as professional malpractice (legal and accounting), commercial torts, class actions, intellectual property, and labor and employment, particularly employment discrimination, on behalf of both employees and employers. Mr. Ross has tried several large commercial and labor cases before judges and juries in federal and state courts throughout the United States. In 2009, Mr. Ross was lead counsel in the only successful defense of the largest state civil racketeering trial in Wisconsin history. Appellate Litigation Mr. Ross has represented clients in numerous substantial federal and state appellate matters, compiling an impressive record of wins in state and federal courts of appeals. For example, he successfully argued the landmark class action cases Miner v. Gillette Co. to the Illinois Supreme Court and In re Medco Health Solutions to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Ross has appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Seventh, Eighth, and Eleventh Circuits. Business Counseling In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Ross counsels businesses, employers and officers in most business-related areas, including:
Mr. Ross also counsels corporate officers, business executives, and high-level employees in negotiating employment contracts, severance packages, and relief from restrictive covenants. He has served on and advised numerous boards of directors of both private commercial corporations and not-for-profit organizations. Additional Experience Mr. Ross is the author of Constitutional Challenges to the Massachusetts Sexually Dangerous Persons Act, 4 New England Law Review 253 (1978); Multistate Consumer Class Action in Illinois, 57 Chicago Kent Law Review 397 (1981) and several short stories. He served as an Instructor of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law from 1979-1983 and Instructor of Broadcast Law at Columbia College from 1995-1999. Mr. Ross served on the Board of Governors (Emeritus) of the Chicago International Film Festival; as President of the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation, Evanston, Illinois, from 1999-2001; and on Civil Rights Committee of the Anti-Defamation League. Prior to entering private practice he held a two-year judicial clerkship with the honorable Abraham Lincoln Marovitz, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. |
